Our team was involved in many R&D projects, transition ducts for F-22 fighter. This project was originally competed between G.E. and Pratt & Whitney. Both different concepts, both achieved amazing results. This took many hours of Electron beam welding development and many hours of T.I.G. welding, some elaborate tooling to succeed. Pratt & Whitney Duct was made from new proprietary alloy of titanium called alloy “C”. This section was made from hot formed and electron beam welded together. The nature of alloy had to to semi automatically T.I.G. welded together inside a large rotating purge chamber. Trident D-5 missile platform system. This system is used to propel the warhead platform into position to drop multiple as needed.
